Producing

Martha’s work as a producer includes many of her own NYC dance concerts, as well as numerous community arts festivals, community parades, site-specific performance events, international initiatives and festivals highlighting works by recently immigrated teens.

Highlights

RED HOOK FEST: (2000-2024)

First known as the Red Hook Waterfront Arts Festival, and later as Red Hook Fest was much beloved, free annual multi day event which has featured many renowned artists including Camille A. Brown, Urban Bush Women, Fela, Ronald K. Brown- Evidence, Max Pollack, La Excelencia, Batalá New York and many more. It also featured the work of local youth and offered a showcase of community resources as well as kayak rides on NY Harbor. It took place at various locations along the Red Hook, Brooklyn waterfront.

DANCE ON THE GREENWAY (2012-2015)

A festival of site-specific works by professional choreographers as well as emerging local artist that took place along IKEA’s Erie Basin Park in Brooklyn. It featured works by Rashaun Mitchell, Kathy Westwater, Shannon Hummel, Joya Powell and Ani Taj/The Dance Cartel among others. Also included panels on community arts and waterfront

DANCE FOR TOLERANCE (2007)

The Dance for Tolerance initiative was a project funded by the Third Millennium Foundation that highlighted the use of dance as a form of tolerance education in areas where youth were vulnerable to street violence. In 2007, three youth groups from participating organizations in Cali, Columbia, Fortaleza, Brazil and Brooklyn, NY united in NYC to perform together at the annual Red Hook Fest.
